The jail population in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City has increased to the point where action needs to be taken. Operating sometimes at close to 200% of intended occupancy, studies have been conducted to project the costs of constructing a new jail facility. With this study came potential recommendations to alleviate overcrowding at the jail and to address some issues with the inmate population, particularly that of recidivism. It was noted that the inmate population is a ‘revolving door’ and that those incarcerated for a second or further time sometimes represents close to 90% of inmates. With these issues in mind, we were tasked with looking at the feasibility of a Day Reporting Center to help address these two prominent issues.
One may easily go past the Arlington County Detention Facility without noticing a multistory building that has reflective windows is actually a jail that has 200 employees that secure and hold a typical inmate population of approximately 500 inmates (slightly larger male-to-female population). Firstly, I will discuss their set ups. The Miami County Jail (MCJ) was built on a setup nicknamed the “pod” setup. This setup is where personnel will sit in a control room with all cells in sight, with every block in sight. This keeps it less hands-on with the inmates, creating a safer environment for the correction officers.
We have had a consistent presence with inmates at the Allegheny County Jail. From the other side, volunteers and contributors from all over Greater Pittsburgh join us

The main argument in favor of jail staff treating pretrial detainees more leniently than convicted jail inmate is that because they are still innocent, they should not have to be treated similar to a convicted jail inmates or limit some of their freedom until they are announce as a convicted offender. However, the argument against such leniency is it will be much harder for corrections officials to manage and deal with preterial detainees. The corrections officials would hestiate to control a situation and harder for them to determine which behavior is acceptable and what is not. This statement can summarize the challenges posed by pretrial detainees by that one is able to temporary buy his or her time, if they can afford to.

The United States has a larger percent of its population incarcerated than any other country. America is responsible for a quarter of the world’s inmates, and its incarceration rate is growing exponentially. The expense generated by these overcrowded prisons cost the country a substantial amount of money every year. While people are incarcerated for several reasons, the country’s prisons are focused on punishment rather than reform, and the result is a misguided system that fails to rehabilitate criminals or discourage crime. This literature review will discuss the ineffectiveness of the United States’ criminal justice system and how mass incarceration of non-violent offenders, racial profiling, and a high rate of recidivism has become a problem.

On June 16th, 2017 at approximately 2000 hours in the 3000 block of Church Street Glenarden, Maryland 20706 while conducting a Drug enforcement operation. With sources being limited the only thing personal can do is ask a list of questions and at that point if they are answered correctly than the individual is processed. While being processed an inmate may still be under the influence and
In order to do this they need to make new centers to help prisoners inside better themselves. In Alabama prisons may soon shut down 14 of its prisons for overcrowding, neglect, and violence in the state’s correction systems. In the prison St. Clair Holman in Alabama the prison system makes prisoners act different. There is no safety, security or supervision. “We have people being killed, sexually assaulted, raped, stabbed on daily basis at St. Clair, Holman, and multiple facilities; it’s a systemwide problem,” said Charlotte Morrison, a senior attorney at the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), which represents Alabama prisoner.”
