A huge difference was in the ending of the story, In the Black Cat you cannot really tell what is going to happen but in “Tell Tale Heart” the character had been planning this murder all throughout the story. But they have many similarities as well in the two short stories. For example, in both stories there has to do something with an eye. In the “Black Cat” the character in the play, who begins to drink alcohol profusely stabs the eye of the cat out. But in “Tell Tale Heart” the character is describing the eye of the old man. Both of the stories have something to do with an out of control person doing something that is unnecessary. In the “The Black Cat” when it says, “My original soul seemed, at once, to take its flight from my body”. Also in “The Black Cat” when the police come he seems like he never wants them to leave, he keeps hinting at things and when he does that it goes to too far and the loud screeching causes the police to find the body. In “Tell Tale Heart” the character does not want the police to find out at all but in “Tell Tale Heart” emotions play a huge roll. The beating of the heart in the story really got inside of the characters head and it led him to confessing to his crime. For example in “Tell Tale Heart” when it says, “No! They heard! I was certain of it. They knew! Now it was they who were playing a game with me. I was suffering more than I could bear, from their smiles, and from that sound.
