Eminem lyrics pretty much says that If they play him or that he will hurt them It’s a threat as Elonis threatened his wife. Yes, these should be held up to the same standard No, hip hop/rap is not the only type of music that has misogynistic lyrics. There is one that is called “santeria” and is a hip hop or rap, but has misogynistic lyrics. In my opinion, what matters more is a person’s freedom to live without fear because is the one who is being threatened. Yes, online speech is a special form of playacting, that make threats not real. You really don’t know If that person means it or not because he’s posting it online a threat. Posting threats against someone in a way of acting out the reason can be because he really want’s to let the world to see what she did to him or If she didn’t then just make it seem. This is a way for him to let all his anger or rage out by knowing that the world knows. He could have kept it to himself , but that’s a way he can let it all out by not keeping it to himself, but by letting all know. Yes, freedom of speech should enhance liberty but threat’s take away someone else’s liberty. Elonis could had posted online the freedom of speech but it was a threat also and his wife was living with fear because of his threats.
