“With an intentional jump off the Washington Bridge the life of Tyler Clementi came to its tragic end. Tyler was an 18-year-old violinist and first year student at Rutgers University who found himself victim to the harsh attacks of a cyberbully. Devastated, Tyler took his life after being humiliated by his own roommate, Dharun Ravi, who videotaped Tyler and posted publicly online, with the intent to expose and humiliate him in front of his fellow students. This information shows that people just do whatever they want without thinking of the repercussions. This shows that cyberbullies take individual’s innocents away from them that can never be returned. In What is Cyberbullying “60% of targets said that their online experiences as a target of cyberbullying affected their school, home, and with friends and reported experiencing feelings of frustrations, anger, and sadness.” This shows that cyberbullying affects everything going on with the victim. Victims are shortened to feeling down and not being able to feel the same. Admittedly kids should be more aware of social media knowing that they should not talk to strangers online can prevent them from getting cyberbullied.
