On the other hand, these two speeches greatly differ from one another because of the way they shaped history. “I Have a Dream” was for the African American rights and freedom, whereas the “Inaugural Address” was about everyone coming together as one. King speaks of how african americans are not free after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.(3) With this phrase, it leads up to him saying repeatedly “I have a dream.” He was speaking to the african american eye in hopes that they would try to make a difference in their society.
