Regret is an incurable disease caused by lies, distortion, and falsehood. People often try to find a cure for this disease or try to believe that regret is something that is easy to cure, however, it is not. Once an individual make themselves believe in a lie they tell themselves, the pain and suffering that comes with regret will continue to linger for a lifetime. Sinclair Ross’s short story, “The Painted Door” highlights the idea that individuals who deceive themselves in the chase for happiness often create a lifetime of regret.
In this passage way you see personification and mystery. The personification is when he says "A series of stern-looking portraits glared down at him from the walls" this shows personification due to the potrats having the human trait of glaring. personification also shows when he says "On of the volumes had struck him back. Like a cat" this shows personification due to it saying it struck at him when it is just a book. also by saying it was likea cat when it was truely not because it is a book.
In the obituary I said Hazel was like a ray of sunshine, getting the image across that she is a great person. This is a simile because it uses like. In her suicide note I used death is calling to me in a way I cannot avoid. That is personification because death is merely a figment of her imagination. In the text messages I only put one figurative language in out of all of them because no one really texts like that, using figurative language.
This quote from “The Wooden people” ,“Their faces were crushed by things made out of wood and stone” (19). The quote shows that “The Wooden People” were crushed by stones which is not possible and so is an example of personification. Stones and wood are non living things that cannot move or harm someone unless it is done by humans on purpose. Similarly, an example of personification is found in the “Creek” myth, “Things went well with the animals and the Earth, but after a while the animals complained of the lack of purpose in their life” (creek). In this quote it shows that the animals complained to the Creator of how they did not have anything to do, but animals are living creatures that cannot talk in the first place.
Nathaniel Hawthorne’s rosebush in The Scarlet Letter represents the prisoners who are living within the shadows of the prison. Throughout the novel Hester, a prisoner, is seeking redemption, so she’s willing to sacrifice her reputation for the sake of her daughter. The rosebush is a symbol for those who are suffering or going through a difficult time. The rosebush is growing in the shadows of the prison, as are the prisoners who have a chance at redeeming themselves. Throughout The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne overcomes several challenging obstacles that come her way and try preventing her redemption.

The story of The Kite Runner is set in the backdrop of the fall of Afghanistan’s monarchy, Soviet military intervention, and the rise of Taliban regime. I think that the theme of this book is Amir trying to redeem himself.
Morality can be shown through texts and stories in a number of ways. One story in particular that showed morality as a theme at different points throughout the story was the Ravine by Graham Salisbury. The key instances in the story that show morality as a theme were when Vinny, the main character, wasn't sure if he did the right thing going to the ravine, or if he should've listened to his mother, and stayed home. The second time morality was expressed as a theme was when Vinny also didn't feel comfortable being at the ravine since another teenager about his aged passed away in an accident at the ravine, he was afraid that what happened to the boy might happen to him and his friends. And the last moment in the story where morality is expressed as a theme was
