Damage From Minimum Wage Money makes the world go round. Joe Biden eventually wants to raise the minimum wage to fifteen dollars. He wants workers to acquire a job that will give them dignity. He also wants to raise those in poverty above the poverty line, so they can live their best lives. The minimum wage is a big way to make Americans' lives worse because consumers will experience paying more, cause layoffs, and not citizens out of poverty. The minimum wage could benefit some workers to pull them out of poverty and also some business owners. Consumers will experience paying more because of inflation. The expansion of minimum wage will put more citizens into poverty because they will have to be laid off from their job. Based on recent events the poverty levels have gone way up. Consumers are starting to not be able to afford the items that they need to live. They also can’t find jobs as a consequence of the lack of employers hiring. Hypothetically, someone was already a low-income worker, and they got laid off from their job. They would not have enough money to buy those essentials to live. That would then cause them to be under the poverty line. This trend of low-income workers will just keep happening to millions of families and will have a bad impact on the economy. History shows that raising the minimum wage did work to move individuals out of poverty, but millions of jobs were lost and more individuals fell into poverty. Poverty in America has always been a problem and raising the minimum wage has never worked in the past. Having history repeat itself is not the best way to stop poverty. Although history showed that nine hundred thousand of individuals made it out of poverty, those who had lost their jobs went down into poverty. With all of the history, Americans would think that the best move would be to keep the minimum wage. It is at a steady position and individuals have the chance to make raises and work their way up to the top of the business. That would then pull them out of poverty to live the life they had always
