The United States has seen a lot of development and change over the course of history. Unity and strength has been the key to our development. The emerging industrial capitalist economy has caused many changes to virtues and morality that has solidified us as a country. Some may say that that Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller are helping America grow stronger, but is that worth sacrificing our social morality and humanity? I believe that the capitalist economy has only benefited a small portion of the American people. The average man could have a trade and sell his good from his own business to make enough money to manage a comfortable lifestyle. This is why I strongly support the beliefs of the Industrial Workers of the World labor union. This labor union understands that if workers stand together they can create change in the workplace. Not only do they call the assembly of white workers facing inhumane workplace conditions, they also called for women, blacks, and immigrants to form under the label of radical reform(America Firsthand, 51). The labor union understands that the capitalists are the enemy of the workers. With capitalist controlling most aspects of the economy, the means for survival for farmers are being stript by the unfair dominance of robber barons. This is why I stand by the beliefs of the People’s Party. They believe that the government should own the railroads and run them in the people’s interest(America Firsthand, 87). This would take away the ability of the capitalist raise to the prices of crop transport to unrealistic highs. Also, amongst many other economic, political, and social reforms sought after by the People’s Party, they believe that there should be a national currency only for all debts public and private(America Firsthand, 87). Many of the beliefs of the People’s Party revolved around the government fairly and justly controlling the economy in America. This third party control and regulation would create laws and standards that would take the control out of the robber baron’s
