Today there are around 10 million factories in the whole world. A large amount of the factories are located in Great Britain. This would not be true without The Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes. This happened from around 1760 to somewhere between 1820-1840. This took place in Great Britain because in Great Britain there was a lot of agriculture. The population started to grow rapidly after the Agricultural Revolution which meant more people needed to make cloth. That was hard because they were making it in houses, so people started to make machinery that would make a quicker way to make cotton.The industrial revolution represented a turning point in history of how people worked and lived because it changed the way things were produced and completely altered the way people lived. Before The Industrial Revolution people would work in their homes using nothing but their hands and muscles. They would make cloth by hand and they were even able to schedule their own time to work. After The Industrial Revolution people would work in factories and use many different types of machines.They would work in factories because the machines were not able to fit in cottages (where people worked before). They had a good chance of not being injured or getting sick, but if something were to happen to their house that would affect their work. This was very different after The Industrial Revolution. The smoke of the factories would pollute the air which was not good to breathe in. This would also spread many diseases such as Cholera. (a disease spread through water.)
