Industry Engagement Office Internship Report

The process that brought me to achieve a work placement officially started in October 2017. The main resources that I used during the process were either job search engine, LinkedIn, and friends or the Industry Engagement Office. Unfortunately, the first aforementioned resources were not so useful, due to the lack of internship positions, and when I applied to some of them I did not receive any reply back. Basically, it turned out that my only resources to have interviews was through to the Industry Engagement Office. I have been selected for four interviews but unfortunately, none of them were successful. The second one I had more time to prepare it and I felt more confident. Although I received a positive feedback, I believe I failed because of the soft skills questions. I recognize I did not answer in a proper way especially because I was not prepared for that kind of questions. So I understood that my problem was the soft skills questions and I should have prepared better that topic. The third one was a merely technical interview, and I was totally not confident as I did not have knowledge about the type of product and technologies that the company develops. After these three interviews, I was struggling to have another interview and I started to be concerned with as the work placement positions were decreasing and my course was finishing. I expected some classes/lecturers about work placement as it was proposed at the beginning of the second trimester, but unfortunately, this did not happen at any time. Finally, after more than a month without having an interview, I had my fourth interview. Technically speaking I think I had a decent interview but I am sure that I failed because of the soft skills

How to achieve it? I would need to work side by side with seniors and learn from them how to face some complex issues. After that, I may be capable to overcome problem also without any help.
How to measure it? I will be able to measure the progress of this goal during the daily stand-ups that we have at the company. I will be able to explain the solution to the problem that I faced instead of complaining about issues that I could not overcome.
My first approach to the work placement has been pretty tough. During the first weeks, we had few meetings about the design and architectural system software. I felt frustrated as I was not able to understand several aspects of the discussion. I felt uncomfortable and inadequate. However, during one of the meetings with all the development team and company founders, I have been able to answer a question that my manager ask everybody. This gave a good boost. After those first meetings, I started reading articles and watching videos to understand some points that were mentioned during the meetings.
