Consider the emotional damage if your boyfriend slept with your best friend of 20 years; how would you react? Infidelity in relationships is a major problem in today's society. It has many effects on people and causes them to do the unthinkable. In Hamlet and Lamb To The Slaughter, the authors use infidelity between men and women to comment on the morality of cheating on one’s significant other, suggesting that romantic commitment has always been a struggle for humanity. Mary, who was the wife of Paul, was overjoyed for her husband to come home. When he gets home, he tells his wife he cheated on her and he wants a divorce. Pondering what he just said, Mary´s head is spinning and she grabs a frozen lamb leg and kills her husband. She stands on top of him thinking about what she just did but doesn't seem to panic. Covering up the murder weapon by cooking it into a stew for the police she gets away with her plan. Though Mary successfully killed Paul, he wouldn't be dead if he would've been monogamous towards Mary.
