During the Civil Rights Era (1947-1968), many efforts were made to change rights for colored people. Two of the most influential events in order to make these changes were the Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education and the horrific cruelty at a civil right protest in Birmingham, Alabama. In the Brown v. Board of Education case, NAACP lawyers all around the country were filing cases on the issue of segregation in schools. Later, segregation would be unanimously ruled as unconstitutional in public schools by the Supreme Court. This overturned the Plessy v.
