The reason why informal social control works better than formal social control because it has more control over a person mind since they are instilled as a part of their identity. Targets individuals and small group by using our fear of humiliation and ridicule to control everyone and for us to be obedient according to the society expectations.

Unlike formal social control, there is no punishment when you break these rules it is up to the person to assess the punishment of these violations.

Formal social control is a totally expressed law and since we realize that in the event that if we break these principles that they will be punished. unlike normal social control where it uses our own sense of morality in which lessens the likelihood that a person would willingly commit any wrongdoing or do something that is out of the norm because we care more about how we are seen by others than being subservient to the authorities as we just take others believe that we should follow the law just because others do. (Which was also stated in the ash experiment.)

In conclusion, the informal social control works better because it uses indirect methods that do not have any procedures using fear of humiliation and ridicule to control a person behavior. While formal social control is a complete stated rule to maintain the order in our society that as long as there are people who believe the idea we are influenced take it as our own even if we have a different
