Informational Interview
Preparation
Scheduling the interview with Eliza Wood took a few weeks because she has a packed schedule as an Assistant Account Executive. We emailed back and fourth until a date was chosen that would work for both of us. I identified Eliza through my sister-in-law, who went to University of Michigan with her. She responded within a reasonable amount of time to my first emails. She sometimes took a day or so to respond to emails but we had an interview date scheduled about a week after the first email. Next time I schedule an informational interview I will more give my interviewee more dates to choose of availability so it’s easier for her to fit me in her schedule.
The Interview I learned a lot about Legacy Marketing Partners and the position Eliza has there during the interview. When I arrived Cara Depiero, a HR recruiter at Legacy, showed me around the office and told me a bit about Legacy Marketing Partners. It is an experiential marketing company that does field, digital, and events marketing for companies. The company hires interns post-graduation on a 90-day trial basis. Her typical workday begins around eight in the morning. During the workday she calls clients and gives statuses on marketing strategies, reaches out to venues, reviews run-of-shows for events, and emails various people. She also works some weekends at Events and works closely with venue staff and other vendors. She feels that the most significant thing she learned in college is good work habits and effective writing skills. Furthermore, Eliza loves working at Legacy because of the casual business culture of the company. Eliza works in the Spirits Department with clients Cerveza Pacifico Clara and Absolut
