Introduction
Free college education is one of the higher education policies that are currently being advocated for. Some of the families that have no experience with a college education strongly appeal for the government to eliminate the college tuition fee. Over the recent past, the national conversation has dramatically and explicitly shifted during the presidential race, from the concern of students loan crisis to advocating for free college education. Achievement of our possibilities can only be made possible through education that opens a window of opportunity for a person to achieve their goals. Advocating for a free college education can offer the perfect opportunity for the American citizens to realize their potentials regarding talents and creativity. Some of these opportunities can only be accomplished in higher levels of education such as college because the individuals are mature enough unlike in high schools where a person concentrates more on class work (Dixon, 349). Giving equal opportunities to all persons is necessary for making them have a sense of belonging and pride for being an American citizen. On the other hand, it is arguable that giving equal opportunities to all citizens is impossible because people take different chances in different ways (Dixon 350). Therefore, irrespective of how much the government puts efforts on implementing free college education, the society especially the youth view the idea differently.
The nation's current financial aid system currently fails to provide an equal opportunity to every qualified American despite the fact that few numbers of people have had a chance to attend colleges. Notably, the financial aid system faces constraints in cases where the students fail to secure employment in future to repay the loans and sustain themselves.
