We now live in a world where there are becoming more hybrid cars around. Back in the day, everything was either gas or diesel and they had a standard battery that would fit them to be able to run/ start them. Well now with the hybrid cars around they are using different batteries in them. I will explain the features in the two of them in this essay and explain how it may change the way you think of them. Overall, the batteries for the regular vehicles seem to have been around long enough that the glitches have all been worked out so that they work the way that we have wanted them to. But with the hybrid batteries, it seems like since they are still fairly new, they are extremely expensive and they still have many glitches that they need to work out. Let me first explain what the purpose of a battery …show more content…
We have created such a thing for the ability to cut down on pollution and get greater gas mileage. As gas prices rise, people strive to be getting better mileage, well this is the way to do it. Hybrid cars have a lot of electronics in them to make them work the way that they do. Hybrids have a motor that is used for two main things, more power when trying to pass cars, and charging the battery. When you are driving around the city or you are simply cruising down the interstate, your car’s engine will be off. It will sporadically come back on the charge the battery to the state it should be. These hybrid batteries are made close to the same as the regular batteries. They are made with Nickel-metal instead of lead. “They also have newer hybrid batteries that have lithium ion inside of them”. (MJ) They are doing this for better storage capacity. In the example, it had was explaining about the Honda batteries made with nickel metal 386 vehicles became unusable after them being stored for some time. So they then knew they were going to have to find a new way to make their batteries for these cars.
