The American Dream is Something Real. The American Dream is where people go to the United States to be able to pursue their goal of getting a better life through education and hard work. A better life where they can do things with more freedom, like start a family, get a better education, and have more opportunities. Opportunities people often don't get around the world. It's a reality for the people who work hard and have dedication to pursue their dreams, and it's a fantasy for people who often don't work hard and don't try to achieve it. For people to reach the American dream, they need to work hard to be able to succeed. It takes sacrifice, risk-taking, and hard work rather than chance. Some individuals believe that the American dream gets easily handed to them, but instead, they have to show that they really need it. In other cases, people might be going for the wrong dream. An article by Eric Martel from Open To Debate called ‘‘Is the American Dream Attainable?’’ reflects that “The American Dream is still alive”. It just requires a shift in mindset and a more proactive approach. Whereas previous generations could be more complacent about their future, today you must take action or your standard of living could easily slide towards poverty“. Through the years it's been changing a lot and it has been having different definitions. Not only that, but the way people work to achieve it changes too. Another article ‘’Getting rich isn’t the American Dream anymore, says a new survey—here’s how people define success instead’’ on CNBC Make It by Ashton Jackson in 2023 shows that “That’s according to a recent GoDaddy survey, which asked more than 1,000 U.S. small-business owners to describe what achieving the American Dream entails, to them. Fifty-four percent of respondents defined it as “feeling happy in life,” and 49% said it involved “freedom to follow my passions.”’ (Paragraph 3). This is saying that although some people believe the American Dream is fake, others believe it has changed. Instead of the American Dream being about being rich, it's about living a happy life. Almost all small business owners say that the American Dream helps people feel happy and feel free. Not focusing on money?
