Title What does equality mean to you? Well to most people it means individuals are the same and are viewed the same. Well with affirmative action everyone gets an equal chance. Take it from the words of John Kasich who is for affirmative action. He says “everyone has an equal chance”. So affirmative action should be used in college admissions because it opens up more opportunities, promotes a more realistic environment, and creates diversity.

Affirmative Action creates more opportunities for people that would not normally have those chances. For example “A farm boy from Idaho can bring something to Harvard College that a Bostonian cannot offer” (Anderson).This is significant because it shows that since they will have many different people there from different backgrounds. They will get better opportunities and chances of doing better in the real world. Since the real world is full of diversity. Lots of people say that Affirmative action is racism and discrimination. This makes sure that our “nation's future depends upon leaders trained through wide exposure to the ideas and mores of students as diverse as this nation of many people” (Robinette). This shows that if we did not have affirmative action in college admissions when students got out of college they would not be used to our multicultural environment. Now some argue that when you get out of college affirmative action does not help you. But, affirmative action helps students so when they get out of college they have a better chance of getting a job.
