Cancer is deadly: one of the leading causes of death in the US. From lung cancer to dozens of other kinds, it takes a toll. While breast cancer is only one of them, it has the power to kill thousands, and still effect more people. It is a common type of cancer, and among many being researched for a cure. Many people have looked for such a cure, but none have been put into production as of now. While diagnosis of breast cancer may have increased, not much has been done for treating it or eradicating it from the body. Cancer, in a nutshell, is a very deadly disease. Anyone can get it, and anyone can die from it. There are dozens of types of cancer, but breast cancer is one of the more common types of cancer. Breast cancer occurs in both males and females, but the majority of reported cases are listed as female. The chance you knew someone that has had breast cancer is very high. You may know someone who died from it. Only this year, 316,120 new cases in women have been reported in the U.S. Sadly, over 40,600 women lost the battle from it just this year. (cancer.org). Unfortunately, those numbers are only for the United States of America. If you take the fact that 316,120 is .97 percent of the United States of America’s population, and take .97 percent of the world’s population, that is 74,358,155 people diagnosed with breast cancer only this year. The number of people who got breast cancer in previous years does not factor into this. If the world follows the ratio of breast cancer deaths to United States population, about 9,549,984 people died of breast cancer just this year.
