The Fight Every year, Cancer kills approximately 577,190 people every year, this number needs to change (Lehnardt). Most people know or know of someone with cancer or has passed away from cancer. Cancer can happen to anyone. Not only does your heredity background effect this but what you do everyday and your daily habits could contribute to the diagnosis of cancer. Weather its diet, drugs or how much time you spend outside. In this essay, Cancer will be researched through what exactly it is, its risks, the treatments, and the facts. There are many types of treatments towards curing cancer. One being chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses drugs to kill the cancerous cells (Types of Cancer Treatment). Most of the time chemotherapy is very effective. Another treatment includes radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is a treatment where they use high doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors (Types of Cancer Treatments). Lastly, there is surgery. Surgery is where they remove the cancer from your body (Types of Cancer Treatments). Although these treatments are great at helping cure cancer, they all have some tough side effects. Starting with Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy works well at killing fast growing cells, but with that it's also kills the growth of healthy cells (Chemotherapy Can Cause Side Effects). This results in mouth sores, hair loss, and nausea (Chemotherapy Can Cause Side Effects). Radiation therapy has many side effects. For example, If your getting therapy on your brain the side effects include fatigue, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, headache, blurry vision, plus more. If your getting it on your pelvis the side effects include diarrhea, fatigue, hair loss, vomiting, nausea, sexual and fertility problems, urine and bladder changes plus more (Radiation Therapy Can Cause Side Effects).
