Hello, my name is Lydia Juan and I am currently a college student at Antelope Valley College. I am writing to you on the issue of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), better known as drones. After the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, attacked, the United States began sending drone strikes to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and other countries (ProCon.org) .Drones are most favorable for America and should continue to be used as part of military defense. UAVs improve America’s protection from potential terrorist attacks. . The strikes are properly governed and coordinated; used only when it is the most beneficial for America. Also, UAVs are America's most accurate weapon thus far. Therefore, the vote for the persistence of drone strikes is most desirable for America and is strongly encouraged. UAVs are a great preventative measure to mitigate potential terrorist attacks. According to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, “Drone attacks in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia have killed...dozens of high-level commanders implicated in organizing plots against the United States.” UAVs take out highly-skilled terrorists along with …show more content…

For example, Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Yemen’s President , has shown adoration for the accuracy of drone strikes stating that the "electronic brain’s precision is unmatched by the human brain" (Shane). Many approve of them so much that they ask for more. For example, In Fatima Bhutto’s article ,A Flood of Drone Strikes, she stated that General Ashfaq Kayani , a Pakistani Chief of Army Staff , asked US officials for more drone strikes (Bhutto). Bhutto also found that Pervez Musharraf ,former Pakistani president, declared to CNN that his government had secretly signed off on US drone strikes.Overall, these countries appreciate US drone strikes because they contribute to a major decrease in violence along with an increase of
