Even though veterans risk their life everyday for us, most people are taking advantage of their sacrifices. The VFW’s mission is to ensure that all veterans are respected for their services and always receive the entitlements they’ve earned. My event will be that when students donate a dollar or more, their name is entered into the raffle. 12 spots are open, and if their name is drawn, they will be given the opportunity to toss a pie into a teacher’s face. Furthermore, the VFW’s goal as an organization made for veterans is to ensure that they aren’t forgotten after they come back home and help them transfer back into a normal life again. They know what they’re doing with donations and the best contributions. They are the most trusted veterans-donations-support group and there’s a reason, because they have done things right in the past and proved that they are legitimate. Likewise, the VFW deserves our donations because veterans have done so much for us. “In January 2013, there were around 57,849 homeless veterans, 4,488 were female veterans.” (2013 Annual Homeless Assessment Report). When Vets come back war, often times they own nothing. If vets aren’t given the opportunity to rebuild a normal life then they can’t magically do it themselves. After all they’ve done for us, why should they be left to fend alone? Firstly, my charity is a raffle for donating money and being able to pie a teacher of your choice if your name gets drawn. However many times students donate equals however many times their name gets entered. Out of 12 slots, everyone who enters has the opportunity to pie a teacher.
