Horseback Riding in Bavaria Every summer my family takes a trip to Germany to visit family and friends. While we are there, we make sure to visit other countries and do fun activities. One thing we do every year is go to my grandparents’ vacation apartment in a city in Bavaria that is very close to the Austrian border. Because it is so close, last summer my parents, sister, and I went hiking on a mountain in the Alps. The year before, my grandparents, sister, and I went on a walk on the Füssen-Tree-Top-Trail, which is a bridge along the treetops between Germany and Austria. “We’re twins,” I said with a smile on my face. As soon as we picked out our horses, another worker helped us pick out a helmet for us, and a saddle for each horse. My grandparents, Alina, the people leading our horses, the horses, and I all walked out to the start of the trail. Alina and I both needed someone to hold a leash and lead the horses, because we didn’t have enough experience controlling a horse. They helped us get on the horse, and then we were off. We rode through the woods for the majority of the time. It was relaxing and there were beautiful views all around. At the times when we could without the hindrance of all the trees, we had a gorgeous Alpine view. The mountains were as blue as the sky and the snow on top was as white as the clouds. I didn’t want the fun to end, but with the half hour we paid for being almost over, it was time to turn around. On our way back, the lady leading Alina’s horse told us about how her everyone in her family is a big horse-lover. She told us that even her cousin, who is extremely allergic to horses, owns three.
