Maine is the only state that shares a border with only one other state. Ever wonder what the state in the far Northeast part of the U.S was about? Who found, why? Why name it “Maine”? These "natives", the people who have lived here year-round for one or more generations, are one of the major contributors to Maine's uniqueness. The people are highly independent, resourceful, and hardworking individualists who have learned to make a living from the land or the sea, no matter the weather, oftentimes working at two or three jobs or trades to make ends meet. They were finally described during all of that to have a wicked sense of humor. The “natives” as mentioned before can be two different groups of people, the real natives are the native american tribes and the other natives would be the people born in Maine. The native americans are about one percent of the population and come the tribes of the Micmacs, the Penobscots, the Maliseets, and the Passamaquoddies.
