Robert Arneson’s Portrait of George portrays George Moscone, a former mayor of San Francisco in the late 1970s. The portrait is actually a bust, that sits on a column covered with graffiti and phrases in reflection to Moscone’s life and may have been deemed unusual due to its overly casual appearance in bright colors and irreverent nature. This contrasts with Moscone’s professional career and reputation in politics and was not successful as political art as it was taken down for being seen as inappropriate and unrefined. Though Arneson’s intentions may have meant well, the controversy lied in the lack of nobility of the appearance of the bust. An honoring of a person in form of art is usually seen as more noble and serious in appearance as
I don 't think George Ellsworth from the article, "Act Of A Hero" is a hero considering that during the story he didn’t complete all the steps of the hero cycle. In the article he didn’t have a trial which is a set of challenges to test a leader or did he have a change in personality which is where the leader and the group worked together to escape. He also didn’t have a final challenge which, therefore classifies him as not a hero. Another reason he is not a hero in my perspective is when he got to the trapped children and made no attempt nor effort to try and save them, whereas he eagerly backed away from the children when he heard the sirens from the fire trucks and was relieved that "he was no longer forced to make a decision" which was
“Lennie said, “George.” “Yeah?” “Ain’t you gonna give me hell?” “Give ya hell?” “Sure, like you always done before.
Matthew, the French and Indian War (Seven-year war) is yet again an example of war over the desire for land and monetary gains (Schultz, 2009). The colonist was decidedly pushing westward whether due to immigration, high birth rates, or farms controlling vast amounts of land there was a push to gain more property. Additionally, if the colonist were to effectively turn this wilderness into farmland than the French stood to lose a significant amount of their fur trade (Schultz, 2014). So, it is no surprise that the French attempted to intimidate the colonist with a show of strength.
George Ohr Sr., also known as “The Mad Potter of Biloxi” was born July 12, 1857 (Powell 269). Alsace was the place where the great George Ohr Sr. was born (George E. General George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He played a masterful role in the victory of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Events in his earlier life, along with his lack of traditional education enhanced his leadership skills, and strengthened his determination, which ultimately led to victory (Bio.com). His great grandfather, John Washington, moved from England to Virginia.
