The famous Michelangelo was an Italian Sculptor and painter during the Renaissance that made a very big impact on art in the way that we see art today. This well known sculpture in the catholic religion that I will be talking to you about today is called the Michelangelo’s Pieta. I say well known because relating to religion it is a sculpture is the scene of the Pieta that shows Mary is holding Christ after his crucification on the cross, removal from the cross, death and before he was placed into the tomb. I chose this one because it really captured my attention. I found it more interesting looking at the different designs that Michelangelo put into it.

Michelangelo repeatedly used figures of Roman statuary. He also transformed renaissance architecture with his own type use. In the year of 1520, he started working on the Medici Chapel in Florence. When he started to work on this work contained two tombs. Each image symbolized the deceased of the Morning and Evening. A couple years late in 1533, Pope Paul III selecting Michelangelo including his chief who was multiple things. He was a painter, sculptor and architect. This sculpture makes me have different emotions towards it but mainly hurt. Hurt because it shows it in Christ face his pain and in Mary’s as well. Christ is dead but this piece of art makes it seem like if he is still alive. Like I said the pain is shown on their faces. In Mary’s is much more different than Christ. Different because her face is showing that she is now in peace since Christ is in a better place and wont have to suffer much more.This work of art really realize how important this scene was especially because it has a strong religious background and it is another reason why this sculpture is famous and well
