The earliest recorded motocross competition was held in 1924 in Britain. The sport was derived from a combination of trials riding and scrambling, involving the riding of motorcycles over rough terrain and obstacles (Miller and Moeller 17). However, the evolution of motocross began in the late 1950s, with the invention of the modern working suspension system, which allowed bikes to go faster and jump bigger jumps. This, combined with the growth of televised events, contributed to the considerable increase in popularity of the sport (Milligan 129). Motocross today has developed into complex courses that involve a variety of obstacles, such as jumps, long straightaways, and tight turns.
