Why did you select this? What inspired you? I chose ADHD because it is a misconception about only being hyper kids that cannot focus and that it's mostly in males. I also chose to do this topic because so many people I know have ADHD and never really understood what kind or what it was about other than not being able to focus and relatively hyper. When in reality they could think they have ADHD when really they are just uninterested in what they are hearing about or talking about. My inspiration to do this topic is for the simple fact of trying to get the point across that ADHD isn’t just in hyper, non-attentive kids and it could be in others when people don’t see it. Some symptoms include being easily distracted, forget things, daydream, and struggle to follow directions and have a difficulty focusing on one thing. They also have a hard time with organization. Hyperactivity is another type. Symptoms with this include, being fidgety and squirmy, talk non-stop, have to touch, or play with everything in sight, have trouble being still, and have a difficult time being quiet or doing quiet things. The last type of ADHD is Impulsivity. This is the type people most often overlook, symptoms include, being very patient, blurt out inappropriate comments without thinking about emotion or regard behind the comment, and have a difficult time waiting for their turn in something or things they want. There are actually different symptoms between females and males. Males are more likely to be referred to a specialist by a teacher or care provider.
