Some people dismiss them as snobbish and cold, while others view them as adorable and ridiculous; still others fear them. H. P. Lovecraft’s “The Cats of Ulthar” reflects the many feline roles in culture, past and present: mysterious creature, sacred entity, beloved companion, and fearsome predator.
