There are many different types of horses and they each do different things. I’m going to tell you about beautiful horses in the world and you’re going to learn a lot about them.
Horse racing is a sport. It is actually played or ran by thousands, even millions of people. Some people do not count it as a sport but it is! Just like cheer, they say it isn’t but, it is.
Before we get started there is one vocabulary word you need to know and that is a Jockey it is someone who rides the horse during the race. You also may think that there is only one race and that is them all competing to get to the finish line first but, there are three categories of horse racing, flat racing, steeplechase racing, and harness racing. They actually, bid on quite a bit of money. Depending on whether they know that the horse is capable of winning they will bid higher amounts. They pay hundreds of dollars and attempt to win money. Most jockeys travel and race for a living some only do if as a side job. California Chrome is the fastest American Race horse. Horse racing is a sport which is held between race horses, and horses bred for racing. Race horses are often thoroughbreds.
Many races or jockeys use illegal drugs to make their horses go faster, or make their performances better. As of now the most used drug in the horseracing industry is NSAIDs, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. There is a special horse named Secretariat, an American Thoroughbred horse. In 1973 he became the first Triple Crown Champion in 25 years, he set the new ace record. On May 5, 1973 he was the first horse ever to run under 2 minutes. Secretariat won the 1973 Belmont Stakes in 2:24 Flat, and a world record for 1.5 miles. Secretariat died at a young age (19), he was injured when he got a foot disease called laminitis, it became too painful for him to deal with.
