Raise your hand if you know what a paratrooper is. Well, that is what I am going to be doing my speech on. Before we get into all the details, for those of you who don’t know what a paratrooper is, it is a trooper in the military who jumps out of planes, with a parachute, into enemy lines. The first thing I will tell you about is how paratroopers started and who thought of that brilliant idea. Next, I will talk about paratroopers role in World War One and Two. Then, I will tell you about all the exhausting training you have to go through to become a paratrooper. Finally, as a closing for my speech, I asked my cousin who is a paratrooper, a couple questions, and I will tell you his answers! The first thing I will discuss, before anything else, is how paratroopers came to be as popular and useful they are today. Well, if you think no, then you are correct! To be a paratrooper, you have to have a lot of determination, and most importantly, heart. You will be challenged both physically and mentally. The first course you would take is BAC, Basic Airborne Course. You learn basic techniques, with the course ending with a final test of a non-assisted jump. After BAC is AIT, which stands for Advanced Individual Training. There is hands-on training and field instruction. Next comes BCT- Basic Combat Training, which is ten weeks long. You learn basic tactical, survival skills, shooting, rappelling, and marching.
