A. Attention Getter: If you have ever been to a Mexican household there are two things, you’ll come across delicious food and someone’s grandma as the head chef. One thing about Mexican’s they LOVE spicy food.
B. Revealed Object: The Molcajete is used to make traditional Mexican dishes and salsas, and to grind up spices.
C. Thesis Statement: Learning about the significance of the Molcajete will give you a deeper understanding of Mexican culture.
D. Preview of main points: First I will talk about the significance of the Molcajete and what it represents to the Mexican culture. Second, I will explain why I identify with the culture.
II. Body
Main Point 1: Mexico has many cultures, but the food is probably the most important part of Mexican culture. The use of spicy food in all meals is very common in every household. The Molcajete is a basic utensil in every Hispanic household. Sub point A: The significance of the Molcajete: Depending on which region you are from usually depends on the level of hotness you would prepare your meals. Whether you choose Jalapeno, guajillo, serrano, or habanero to make your meal or salsa a Molcajete is being used. Every time I visited Mexico, my grandmother was always in the kitchen with my dad’s four sisters preparing something delicious. As a young girl, I would pull up a chair to reach the counter and join the girls. Each one had a different duty and my favorite one was making the salsa. My little hands could barely hold the Piedra, but my grandmother was right by my side helping me. Her go-to chilies to use are serrano and habaneros after she toasted them and started to grind them with the molcajete she had everyone in the room coughing their longs out.
