Many people have died or suffered throughout history due to the abuses of human rights. Some of those events have happened years ago, but things like this are still happening today. There are many different examples of human rights abuse, and there are several reasons for why these horrid events have happened. They both wanted to be in charge and be the “chief,” and take over and lead. Pol Pot and Jack both wanted to change the ways of something: Pol Pot with Cambodia, and Jack with the group of boys and what he thought the main priority should be. Pol Pot took over by creating an uprising, which led to a genocide that we can now learn about today. Many people suffered during this time, and approximately 1.7 to 2 million people died throughout those four years. Jack, on the other hand, got into a fight and then stormed off to the other side of the island, where he eventually created his own “tribe.” Ralph was the original chief, but Jack disagreed with most of the things Ralph ever said, thought, or did, and the main conflict they had was what their main priorities were. Ralph thought shelters and the fire were more important, but all Jack cared about was hunting and getting meat. Over time, Jack gained most of Ralph’s “tribe,” and this too relates to Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. This relates because of the horrid things they did to the other people. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge killed and tortured many Cambodians, while Jack and his tribe, or in other words, his gang, killed Simon, then Piggy, and then attempted to kill Ralph. They both didn’t care whatsoever about who they were killing or how they did it, but they both killed and tortured anyway. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge tortured the people with the labor work, and in a way, Jack tortured Ralph too, cause in the end of the novel, Jack and his gang hunted Ralph as if he were an
