Injustice: The Case Of Steven Lamontagne

On September 8, 2017 at approximately 8:00 P.M I, Deputy Hill was informed by dispatch of a burglary of a building that had taken place at 300 CR 3145. Upon my arrival, I made contact with Steven Lamontagne the victim in this case. Steven advised me that someone had taken the sheet metal off of the back side of his shop near the right side of the roll up door and reached inside to take the clip off that he had on as a lock. Steven continued to state that once inside they had stolen multiple items from his shop. Due to the amount of items taken I advised Steven to make a list of the stolen items along with value of the items and email me that list. As I entered the shop I observed a tan work glove lying on the floor. I asked Steven if the glove was in fact his, Steven advised me that the glove was not in fact his and that he suspected whoever had broken into his shop had left it. I also observed a number of tools and fishing gear in the shop along with a bass fishing boat. I noticed the back roll up door was opened approximately nine feet from the concrete. When I asked Steven if he had opened the door he stated that he had not touched the door and it was open when he arrived. On the North East corner of the shop I observed tire marks in the sand and Steven informed me that the tire tracks were not his. The tire tracks were also located in the same area where a partial shoe print was located. Steven advised me that next to the roll up door was a cigarette butt that was left as well. I did observe on the right side of the rear roll up door that screws had been taken out and that there was damage to the sheet metal on the building. Once I had observed the scene around Steven’s shop I then went to his driveway. Where I observed the fence cut and lying on the ground and a white and green t-post pushed
