Henry James novella Daisy Miller, portrays Europe in *instert date* and primarily focuses on the interactions between an American lady, Daisy Miller and a fellow once residing in Geneva, Frederick Winterbourne. Daisy Miller, generally displays the interactions from Frederick Winterbournes view, as the reader is only able to access his inner thoughts and feelings, which brings to question if Frederick Winterbourne would be more justifiable title. Although, I am given access to Winterbourne 's inner thoughts its commendable to note that a majority of his interactions and thought processes revolve around Daisy which could support the current title. It may even be plausible to suggest that the novella should not be titled after either character since both are symbols to demonstrate something bigger than the characters themselves. With that said, there I believe there is no definitive answer on whether or not Daisy Miller is the correct title for James novella. It is interesting to explore the reasons for Frederick Winterbourne in that it the novella is seen through his perspective and a majority of the encounters of characters are shaped by his impressions towards them. While, the story is seen through Winterbournes eyes his main focus is on Daisy, and trying to solve her. Once Daisy dies, and is “solved” the story seems to end as without her and her mystery there is perhaps no longer a story to be told. Yet, as I explored deeper into the text it became apparent that maybe this was not a story about either character, and both where symbols foreshadowing a culture clash between American and European culture.
