In the third chapter of Of Mice and Men the main topic I believe is innocence. In this chapter Lennie gets one of Slim's dogs. When Lennie gets the dog he doesn’t realize the things he can’t do with such a young dog. “ You get right up an’ take this pup back to the nest. He’s gotta sleep with his mother. You want to kill him? (Steinbeck 43). This quote explains the innocence that Lennie has even though he’s a grown adult.
