“In all our lives, there is a fall from innocence. A time after which, we are never the same” (Stephen King). At some point in time innocent people grow up by a sudden awareness of reality; specific examples of this are when the young boys in Lord of The Flies are faced with big responsibilities and what most teenagers are faced with when they get to high school. When the naval officer rescued the boys, they realized they had come to “the end of innocence” and wept for they had changed drastically since arriving on the island (Golding 202).
