In The Crucible by Arthur Miller we are introduced to a previous situation in Salem, Massachusetts. The Author gives us an idea of how a society ran by a theocracy has its flaws. Faith in this town was being questioned. This book starts with Salem’s reverend, Parris, he had witnessed his daughter Betty, his niece Abigail, and many other girls taking part in dancing and singing that appeared to be suspicious activity in a society filled with covenanted christian people. Once caught Abigail accuses certain people of witchcraft as a clear attempt to save herself from suspicion.
