The O.L.M. Innovation Center Rule The rule that adults must be present in the Innovation Center to monitor the upper grades should be abolished. More specifically, eighth graders and only eighth graders should be allowed to work in the Innovation Center without adult supervision because we are the most mature and responsible class in the school. The eighth graders are leaders, and with leadership comes responsibility and independence. Additionally, because this is the last year we get to be at this school, work we get done with technology should not be limited by rules. Over the many years they have been in use, the interior and exterior of the Chromebooks have gradually been deteriorating. Almost all of them have lost space to store new information because of external programs, such as Spotify, that have been downloaded onto them. This makes technology in the Innovation Center a much more efficient option for completing work, engaging in educational games and listening to music. Additionally, iMacs are built with better processors than Chromebooks, making them an even more reliable option than Chromebooks. The Chromebooks only have Rockchip 1.8 GHz processors, while the iMacs have fifth-generation Intel Core 4.0 GHz processors. This means that iMacs can run many more programs at a faster speed than Chromebooks can. The evidence supports the reasoning that eighth grades should be allowed in the innovation center without supervision. Additionally, the internet connection in the Innovation Center is close to the fastest in the school because it is near the router. Even though the eighth grade is the most responsible grade in the school, we are still locked out of using the best technology in the school if there is no adult supervision.
