I had the opportunity to be a part of Desert View Academy’s Inquiry night. To be honest, I have never been a part of a school Inquiry night. So, this experience was new to me. The event was located in the cafeteria of the elementary school; in addition, there were many educational activities that were available for parents, children, and teachers. The activities were very fun and engaging for both students and parents. For instance, there was a geography activity where the contestants first had to pick a card, then they were given a set of facts, and finally they would try to identify the correct state. The winner was determine by the one who collected three cards. Moving on, the event had students of all culture. Furthermore, I only heard Spanish and English being spoken. Both languages were spoken by teachers, parents, and students. Inquiry night at Desert View Academy was led by the whole community. Teachers, parents, and students all had a role in which they took a part of. For example, there were many student that were taking full responsibility of the activities. Parents and teachers were motivating the student to participate on the activities. In honest opinion, inquiry night was an eye opener for me. I learn that event similar to this one can be utilize to build stronger relationship with parents and students. The teachers were able to talk about many thing in a non-formal way. In other words, the teachers are able to step out of the professional mode and talk to parents as well as
