Your honor, Mr. Tokumisa Nzambe po Mose yamoyinmdo abotami namboka ya Bakoko is not guilty of murdering Mr. François Makélé because according to Black Moses, written by Alain Mabanckou, which describes all the leading events and the people that Moses met that lead to Moses’ insanity. Moses had a family-like relationship with certain characters in the novel especially Papa Moupelo, Sabine Niangui, The Twins, Bonaventure, Maman fiat 500. She was Moses’ first mother figure in his life and helped nurture Moses like a mother would do. “She’s standing there with a glass of water in one hand an aspirin in the other.”(Mabanckou, 61) This shows that Sabine was a real mother figure to Moses because she took care of his illness like a mother would do. She also told Moses about the history of the orphanage and how it used to be. This example showed how close Moses was to Sabine. When Moses was first taken by Maman Fiat 500 she did not treat Moses like a regular brothel client. She treated him like a son. “Only God can judge our acts, Little Pepper.”(Mabanckou 127) This quote contains much information about Moses’ relationship with Maman Fiat 500. Just like a real mother she gives Moses advice about life, as well as she addresses Moses with a nickname, Little Pepper. As Moses becomes older Maman Fiat 500 wants to get rid of Moses because he is already old enough to support himself and get a job.”On the day before my nineteenth birthday Maman Fiat 500 found me a job as a dockhand down at the port, thanks to one of her most regular clients.”(Mabanckou 145) This shows that Maman Fiat 500 cares about Moses' future and that is why she gets Moses a job. Another example of how Maman Fiat demonstrates her maternal side is she gives Moses his own house in order to further his independence. “A month after I’d been signed on she gave me the keys to a little place she’d just acquired down by the River Tchinouka.”(Mabanckou 145) This example not only shows Moses’ increase in independence but him gradually becoming distant with Maman Fiat 500. It came to the point where Moses would never see Maman Fiat every again” I couldn't’ find Maman Fiat 500 and her girls anywhere…I was at me wits’ end, Id lost all sense of time, and it was probably around then I started to feel gaping holes in my
