Kevin Sanchez 07/09/2015 COSC 6390 Professor Yun Wan Integrating the systems of a toy company A toy company has been going through a business expansion and this has led to problems where the cost of the technology has been rising. One of the reasons is because each department is using a different system to do their functions and this has led to efficiency being reduced because there is no form of integration in place. The IT department has been tasked to find a solution that will allow the company to integrate their systems. They have also wanted to find ways to involve the input of their customers for their toys. One of the advantages of Mule ESB is that this approach offers scalability. This is very useful as the toy company may not have that many departments in their company and this would make sure that their current systems are available. This also relates if they were to include more systems in the future, as the ESB is able to include more applications without being concerned if the system will be included in the integration. One last feature is that the ESB is composed of smaller services, instead of a single large system that contains everything; it allows the toy company to have an easier time in selecting the services that they require for their business functions. The ESB is beneficial with SOA as it was created with the intention of SOA, and this would allow the toy company in slowly integrating their systems to SOA. This is really important because one of the risks is that companies want to integrate their systems at once, and this can be a bad thing because by doing this, it will cause a lot of unnecessary problems and lose resources in the
