Integrity is the common theme that guides the employees of the district. Integrity is always doing the right thing even when it’s the hard thing. Also, it can be defined as being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is not only an important trait for the district to have, but also for a person. I believe that having a set of morals is what defines a person.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is a really important part of everyone’s life, and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunities that I have had while growing up in McComb Ohio. While attending McComb I have also been blessed with the ability to always succeed in what I do, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to participate in many different activities such as junior high volleyball, school musicals, jazz band, pep band, marching band, concert band, and choir. The National Honor Society consists of a reputable group of students that are involved in many other activities and hold themselves to the utmost standards. It is an honor to be apart of a wonderful collection of students that give their all. As all members of the NHS will attest, this organization makes their four pillars well-known and expects all students to work towards bettering themselves in those areas. Scholarship, service, leadership, and character are the pillars that the NHS built themselves upon.
It’s an honor to be considered as a candidate for the Flagler Palm Coast High School chapter of the National Honor Society. Though I would benefit tremendously from being a member, I believe that this chapter would benefit from my participation, too. I believe the four pillars of the National Honor Society can be found in me: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Through setting and reaching holistic goals, I have discovered my strengths and weaknesses as well as a passions, and I’ve experienced countless unforgettable moments along the way. Membership in NHS would add to the camaraderie, volunteer work, and academics that I strive to introduce myself to.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
The five pillars of the National Junior Honor Society (scholarship, service, citizenship, leadership, character) have shaped my middle school experience as well as my perspective in life. Scholarship, the first pillar, has significantly affected my time in middle school. To me, scholarship is a dedication to learning, even if it means sacrificing entertainment or pleasure. I think that the discipline of scholarship is something that I should pursue even after school is over because there is no limit to the knowledge you can learn. It has changed my view of my classes and elevated my learning capacities.
There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. These include character, leadership, scholarship and service. To begin with, I feel that character is an important quality to possess. In school, I have never been written up for violating code or have served a school detention/suspension and I hope not to in the future.
The National Honor Society, NHS, was officially started by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 1921. It started in a Pittsburg high school, but quickly grew throughout the nation. NHS has maintained a long history of admitting exemplary students into the organization. NHS developed four main tenants that have helped guide the purpose, as Zeiger (n.d.) explained: "to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools". I have chosen to do the National Honors Society, because it helped me throughout my junior and senior years in high school.
Without integrity the honor system would fail due to the lack of honesty that is being set in place by having the students taking a pledge. With this being said students that take school seriously want pure focus and having the honor code it allows these principles to be put in place for better grades and higher rates of success. The author Chris Kahn in Source D uses a quote that shows the students use to commit to the honor code, “On my honor as a student, I have neither given nor received aid on this assignment/exam.” Kahn says that these students write the quote on every test that they turn in to provide a reminder that they are under the honor code. This is a strategy that is a strict form of the honor system letting the students to have complete trust in each other and to have the educators trust.

Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
Integrity is one of the fundamental values that employers seek in the employees they hire (Heathfield, 2017). It is the hallmark of a person who demonstrates sound moral and ethical principles at work. Integrity is the foundation on which coworkers build relationships, trust in each other, and effective interpersonal communication. Any definition of integrity will emphasize these factors. Integrity is important to anyone that upholds the values, and apply to any job at hand or while working on any project.
High school is a time to find out who you truly are. You have countless choices and are plagued with decisions galore. Integrity plays a huge part in who you are and what you go through in high school. The way your integrity shapes you can either help you or harm you. I like to think of myself as a person of integrity.
Sometimes, we don’t give ourselves permission to be our true selves out of fear of what others may think or due to truly integrate the various parts of ourselves into one, complete whole person. We apply integrity in school by honesty, honor, respect, social responsibility, and the courage to stand up for what we believe is right. Honesty and trust are central to integrity. Acting with honor and truthfulness are also important for someone with integrity. When we are honest we built strength of character that will allow us to be good with God and others.
