Therefore, coffee shops are considered a necessary thirdspace in the heritage area of Georgetown-Penang. Thirdspace, where users created their own space to communicate, socialise, and exchange the cultural behaviours. Understand the neighbourhood by the visitors lead to create public space and thirdspace. Thirdspace, where users created their own space to communicate, socialise, and exchange the cultural behaviours (Soja, 1996). Interior design is one the important thirdspace elements. The identity of interior space follows the two types of factors, function and formative identity of place which is linked with the third space theory and interior space follow the identity of that place which consist of architectural style, social impacts and function of the place (Hassan, 2007). Element of interior design, design principles, layout, and arrangement are the elements of the genetic code of the interior design of the coffee shops in Georgetown. However, each element includes some variables, which are the effective factors on the coffee shops in Georgetown. These coffee shops are designed to match the needs of the varietyof the visitor, therefore, some design unfortunately used a modern or concept and theme to attract the visitors. During this wide range of coffee shops' themes, the identity of place could be affected by these changes. Although the varietyof interior design style, these places attracting millions of visitors every year. Interior design studies for Georgetown's coffee shops are limited and focused on the cultural effects more than functional and formative features. There is a hidden order in the design of the coffee shops in Georgetown, which is finding and documenting to this order are important to keep the rhythm of mixture of the interior themes in the standards, in order not to affect the perception, expression and memory of the visitors.
