As part of our initiative to be proactive we have decided to invest in Interpersonal Communication Tactics. The tactic of Information Exchange will aid us in communicating well with our employees. This tactic will guide us in our task management goal of increasing overall employee safety. Using the Information Exchange, we will be able to communicate effectively what our expectations are to our employees as well as being able to hear what our employees expect from us. Using the Personal Involvement Tactic will help us with our reputation management goal to increasing job security within our workforce. By using the Information Exchange, we will be able to communicate with our employees the different expectations we have to effectively achieve the overall safety of our employees. We will set up training sessions that will be mandatory for all our lower level management to attend. These training sessions will be useful to get across the expectations we are building. These training sessions will also be used to receive feedback in areas we overlooked or never considered. This two-way communication will be helpful for us to use for the future as well as bring satisfaction to our employees for their contributions. We will also set up motivational safety speeches in which our top management will be giving to our employees. These speeches will act as a face-to-face interaction that will bring awareness to our employees as well as act upon the safety protocols we are putting in place. The main advantage of this tactic is to increase our communication efforts across the company. Using the Organizational Site Involvement, we will be able to be more engaging with our employees to go and take a trip to one of our more successful oil rigs and take a tour with the manager of how day to day operations happen. This way the employee will be able to see how other oil rigs operate and thus would be able to take those ideas and build upon them to share with his/her peers at their oil rigs. These trips would happen for our employees to realize that we are entrusting them with the success of their oil rigs. This will bring about a sense of confidence that we are a reliable company investing in our employee’s success. This tactic will help our employees realize that they are valued and encouraged to stay with our company for many years. Engaging our employees with at these trips will lead to increased job security here at British Petroleum. The main advantage of this of this tactic is to build the trust and reliability of job security amongst our employees here at British Petroleum. The main disadvantage of this tactic is that our employees will be discouraged that their rig may not be operating at the level we expect them to be and thus bring a sort of hopelessness to them; however, we can build the trust of and reliability of job security amongst our employees hopefully they will be motivated to do their best at their rig
