The Week 4 assignments are addressed on how to use the observational tools in order to evaluate the development and create the activities that promote young children 's development. By using the running record, educator can use the data to evaluate the development of the child and create helpful activities that will help the development of the child.
The district wide data system allows teachers to compile data by classroom and content areas to identify patterns in performance. The district’s purpose in gathering data is to identify trends and gaps and to determine student and staff learning needs in light of our district’s annual student achievement goals. The data is utilized by the district’s Curriculum and Instruction team to identify where need and support is needed and to review curriculum. My school’s building leadership team, including my principal, instructional coach, and Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), analyzes our own building’s data in light of the district’s student improvement goals to look for areas that need improvement and to create annual student improvement goals for our building. This data is then presented to our building staff.
Through active monitoring or instruction through routine walkthroughs the principal will provide evidence based feedback. Collaborates with teachers to analyze curriculum and discuss vertical alignment. Promotes evidence based instructional practices to reduce learning gaps and support student growth. Works towards building teachers capacity for analyzing formative/summative data that drives instruction. An evidence-based practice in education is a process of using experimentally testing, research, invention, strategies, trial and error research, and replicate experience multi times. The results are published for teachers, administrators, and educators in a peer-review journal. The education community is not always help with evidence base practice results. “No matter how much scientific evidence supports a given a curriculum, program, or teaching method, a teacher should never assume effectiveness” (Dietrich, Kenworth, & States, 2007). If a teacher is not happy with the practice he or she can modify one component and document any changes, or improve the student’s level of learning.
One of the teachers that effectively utilized each of those strategies was in a pre k classroom. In the morning the teacher would write an interactive morning message for the kids (Sanchez, Danielle D. “Planning for Positive Guidance: Powerful Interactions Make a Difference PG 9). After that, the kids were to put a puzzle together as a team. When a certain song came on, it was time to clean up the puzzle and get in line to brush teeth and wash your hands. After all those tasks were done, then the kids would go to the round carpet.
I observed a classroom at a high school and observed a French class taught by Mrs. Mrs. taught freshman through seniors French I, during my observation. I observed through periods 1, 2, 6, and 7. I really got to see the difference of the classroom from the morning to the evening. The way I saw the beginning of the day to the end of the day being different is, the morning was calmer and the evening was more chaotic. Central High School is located in the heart of downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
OVERVIEW The elementary school that I observed at, Orchard View Elementary, was located in Delray Beach, FL. The location was very accessible and right off of the highway. The teacher I got assigned to was Ms. Diann Johnson. She teaches a class for students in 3rd-5th grade.
Reporter stated the following: The incident happened today in the cafeteria. Jada went to put her tray in the trash receptacle. Mr. Smith and his child (Caleb) were sitting directly behind her. When she went to put her tray up Mr. Smith grabbed the top of her leg on the back side by her behind area. This is physical abuse for the touch.
Language: the language that teachers use has to be high level, which conveys a sense of professionalism that is honourable, moral and dignified. Professional judgement: the teacher should be able to place the needs of the students at the center of professional judgement. The teacher should be aware of his/her individual values, personal experience, commitment to authenticity, decision-making processes and work towards providing sound judgement. There is a school of thought which says that judgement grows with time and implies knowledge and wisdom, that teachers’ judgment improves with time. However, it is essential to ensure that all teachers possess a significant level of professional judgment.
Classroom Observations Mrs. Canada is the first grade teacher that I observed, and the subject that she was teaching was reading. She had planned well-organized power points and crafting materials in advance, so she was prepared for the lesson. The two times I observed, the lesson that was being taught at both times was reading. Children in the classroom used a lot of previous knowledge for the lesson.
The paper reflects on my experience during the teaching practicum. Initially, it analyses the strategies my Mentor Teacher (MT) adopted in her teaching and interaction with the students. Additionally, it analyses the techniques I employed to motivate, monitor, and manage students during my teaching practice.
