Silence in the book could represent, the hurt and emotion that the renter/grandpa had to go through to get to where he is today. When Oskar is silent he is thinking about his father Thomas Schell, who died on 9/11. When oskar thinks about his dad he thinks about the voicemail that his father left him on that terrible day and how he didn’t pick up the phone. Silence in the book is to show the trama in story. This story has a lot of silence in it, when Oskar doesn’t find the lock for the key he is silent. The mom knows when Oskar leaves that he could be killed, raped or even taken, but she stays silent because she is afraid of these outcomes. When we all got there we had to run to a Walmart and get sunscreen and all of that good stuff, my dad, sister, cousin went to go get stuff but me and my mom went to the bathroom, we did are business. My mom and I walked around the store to see if we need anything else we stopped by the pool/beach isel to get floaties and pool toys, we started to walk away from it, then I seen this really cool toy( I forget what it was) that i wanted so i took off to go get it and my mom didn’t notice that left because she was looking at something. I got to the toy i was amazed by it and I really wanted to play with it, so I ran back to the isle that my mom was supposed to be, but she wasn’t in there, she actually notice that left and she was trying to look for me, I was crying because i couldn't find my family. I did what any 5 year-old would do, I walked up to complete strangers and asked if they have seen my family. A lot of them told me no and be safe, so that’s what i did. When i would walk up to people i would do it from a distance so i could have a chance to run, but this really old black man approached me because he seen that i was crying and he asked me “ Why are you crying little child)? I said in my 5 year-old squeaky voice “I lost my family” he said “ I will help you look for them”! That's what that stranger did he helped me find my family, that was the nicest thing a
