Summary of Interview
Lisa Hancock is a realtor at Coldwell Banker in Tremonton, Utah. We were able to do a phone interview on October 31st, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Lisa has been an agent since 2006. She has been assisting buyers and sellers in any central and northern Utah county.
I asked Lisa what the benefits to using a realtor was. She concluded that realtors help showcase a better variety and see more what is available on the market. Realtors also make the buying/ selling process so much easier. They understand rules, regulations, all documents/ forms, and the legal side of things. This includes, save you time, have knowledge of the market, able to write up contract to purchase, and they can do business transactions that will protect the buying. Lisa really emphasized how important realtors are for these very same reasons. There are many people who don’t want to pay a realtor commission so they decide to do it on their own. This isn’t worth it. It will save you less stress and time by just having a realtor help you. In class we also learn how trust is one of the most important things when choosing an agent. Lisa told me that an individual who did not trust her. He thought she was lying to him. He had little trust and wasn’t knowledgeable of the housing market and process. She said this individual was extremely hard to work with since no trust was built between the two of them. There are many common mistakes that first-time home buyers make. Two that were mentioned in class and that Lisa also mentioned were; being indecisive and looking at unaffordable homes. Being indecisive is hard for the realtor to truly know what you are looking for. This makes it so they realtor may be showing homes that aren’t what the buyer wants. Looking at unaffordable homes brings discouragement and unrealistic hopes. This makes it so when they do look at homes that are in their price range, usually smaller, it saddens the buyer that they can’t get afford the type of house they would like to
