Some college freshmen feel overwhelmed trying to adjust living on their own, wondering how they are going to manage to pass all of their classes, make new friends, and maybe even keep up with a job. However, adjusting to the college life can be difficult.
Student organizations are a good way to get more involved on campus and a great way to make new friends. Student organizations have a lot to offer, whether you join as a member or choose to lead one. they help build long-term friendships and help improve leadership skills, networking opportunities as well as get more experience with your major or hobbies.

He is a senior at Oklahoma state university. As I interviewed Bryan, I asked a few questions such as what is it like to be president, the required task he has to accomplish, and some ups and downs he came across while leading an organization. Bryan said, "Not to sound like I'm bragging, but I worked really hard and have been super dedicated to my job as a leader." Bryan has been a part of ASO since freshman year, his second year as a sophomore and he served as a public relation officer, and his third year during his junior year he was just an active member of ASO. As president, the tasks he has to fulfill is to help African Americans or people with an African background, ethnicity by helping the accomplish their goals, figuring out the ropes, finding class, make friends and to enjoy their college experience. Though fulfilling these tasks can be difficult, one of the problems Bryan comes across is to try to get everyone to work while preparing and to participate for an event.
ASO is not just limited to Africans, according to Bryan ASO welcomes anyone who wants to join as long as they can pay the thirty-dollar joining fee. To Bryan being in ASO felt right. African night was on Saturday, the last event for African week. African night was a big event that basically tied everything up about Africa. ASO expressed and taught about the continent of Africa through multiple dances and a drama. ASO members would perform dances that would recognize different countries in Africa. At African night you could also find different types of food from different countries in Africa. This year they really emphasized on the country Madagascar and here at OSU there a lot of students from Madagascar. To recognized those students, they had a lot of food from that region. Having these events can have a major impact on students here at OSU. There are a lot of students that are international student that come from Africa or even students with an African background ethnicity. And having an organization like ASO can help them fit and adjust to the college environment. Having an event like African week bring students together with their culture and even the whole process of setting up these events brings you closer to your
