Nature is a force that nothing can control. Nature call upon Christopher McCandless, also known as Alexander McCandless to live among the land and to not settle in one place for too long. McCandless gets called by the wild, nature, and leaves his love ones behind. The author of Into The Wild, Jon Krakaue describes the adventure that McCandless takes and other like him, Ruess Everett, John Waterman, and Carl McCunn , which they all lead into a horrible death. The nonfiction book ties in the themes that a person without the right precautions are in grave danger in the wilderness and people should enjoy the times they have with love ones. Christopher McCandless's life demonstrates how living on the road or jumping from town to town is dangerous. McCandless is not a crazy person; he did not leave Atlanta and travel to Alaska to die. He travels across the United States hitchhiking and hopping trains. He met many people, changing their lives forever. One life that he changed is a man named Ronald Franz. Franz was one of the people who gave McCandless a ride. He found a new part of himself that he thought was gone. After McCandless left for South Dakota, before going to Alaska, wrote to Franz about how he, Franz, “should make a radical change in your lifestyle,” (Krakaue 56). Franz takes his friend’s advice to heart and “sets up camp on the bajada. Franz occupied McCandless’s old campsite,” (Franz 58). Franz’s life was impacted McCandless by Franz’s time with him and how he cherished it. Franz loves spending time with McCandless and when McCandless died, Franz was heart broken. McCandless life was short, yet Franz could only remember good moments with him. The nature calls out to many people, and McCandless is one of them and everyone he met cherished the moments they
